Mark Deutschmann has been selling real estate since 1986, founded Village in 1996, Core Development in 2003, and The CityLiving Group in 2005. Village grew to employ over 350 agents and staff during Mark's ownership. In 2019, Mark sold the majority of his interest in Village and now serves as Chair Emeritus.
Mark and his CityLiving Group team still sell residential real estate at Village. Mark's sales focus and passion include all of Nashville’s inner loop neighborhoods. Mark has sold over 1,000 homes in the Hillsboro Village and 12South neighborhoods, and sells many homes in East Nashville, Sylvan Park, Richland/Central, and Germantown. Mark’s team has sold over 42 condo/loft/cottage projects, including the CityLights, Icon in the Gulch, The Enclave, Bristol West End, and Gale Park. According to the Nashville business journal, Mark and his CityLiving group have been the top sales team in Nashville for many years.
Mark and his team at Core Development develop and promote the interface of walkable areas in emerging communities. Examples of Core’s completed development communities include Exchange Lofts, Kress Lofts, Werthan Lofts, the Chesterfield, Richland Station, the finery in Wedgewood Houston, and Alloy on Tech Hill. Several of these communities have been honored by the Urban Land Institute with the excellence in design award. Core continues to work on a number of developments in the emerging neighborhoods.
Ever engaged in the community, Mark is the former Chairman and current Chair of Governance for ULI Nashville Chapter, serves on the Greenways and Open Space Commission and serves on the Mayor's Sustainability Advisory Board. As the end of 2018, the Village Fund, the charitable arm of both Village and Core, surpassed $2.2 million in donations back to our community. Mark founded Go Green Home Services in 2014 to retrofit homes for energy savings, reserving profits for Hands on Nashville. He received the community service award from the Greater Nashville Association of Realtors in 2013, and the sustainable Tennessee award from the Tennessee Environmental Council in 2014.
Mark is the author of One-Mile Radius, Building Community from the Core, which was published by Advantage in 2017.
Mark has undergraduate degrees in zoology and spanish and an MBA in International Management. Mark and his wife, Sherry, live in Hillsboro Village. Sherry Stewart Deutschmann is also an avid entrepreneur, she is the founder of Letterlogic and Braintrust. Mark and Sherry like to walk neighborhoods and Greenways, and enjoy traveling. Mark is an avid juggler, collects stamps, and enjoys river kayaking.
